Monterey Residence

Laguna Seca Ranch Estates 2
Monterey, CA

This house was developed in a meadow setting surrounded with oaks, pines and fronting on the Laguna Seca Golf Course.  It was the owner’s desire was to have a contemporary style house situated such that the house looked across the meadow, back from the golf course with views to the Valley Hills.

The resultant design was a house whose forms reflect the various functional spaces within the house.  The house is arranged such that the entry forms a bridge both visually and functionally between the private bedroom wing and the living wing.  Upon entering the house one’s eye is directed through glass doors along an axis separating the two wings, terminating in a water feature and sculpture.

The country style kitchen and master bedroom open onto planter walled terraces which provide a sense of privacy yet expand the interior spaces to the out of doors.

Additional features of the house are:

Built in library directly off the entry.

Cathedral wood ceilings throughout.

Mitered glass corner windows.
